This program is for expectant folks/couples who are new(er) to Alberta and needing a combination of prenatal education and resources with English language support.
Classes will be held once a month, over two afternoons for a total of 4 hours of learning. What you can expect in this program: This program will give participants a basic understanding of the pregnant body, labour and the options for delivery.
Using everyday English, at a level that participants can understand as well as pictures and videos, one should walk away with a solid foundation for their upcoming birth. All who attend will also leave with handouts and takeaways, including easy to share birth preference cards, CLB Canadian Language Benchmark) levels 1-4 are welcome for this fun and engaging new English language prenatal program. |

Our Facilitator: Dyvonna Inkster holds a Bachelor of Arts Degree in English from the University of Alberta, a TESL English Language Instructor certificate, and Certifications as a Birth Doula CD(DONA), Loss and Bereavement Doula (SBD), Lamaze Certified Childbirth Educator (LCCE), Early Childhood Education facilitation (Handle with Care, building mental health for children, PCMG, ACES) and Grief Support Facilitation for adults. She has taught English as an additional language; supported families in pregnancy, birth, postpartum and early childhood. She also facilitates grief sessions, and holds space for couples having to say hello and goodbye to their child over this past decade. By and far, her favourite work has been motherhood. She began that journey in 1999 and has learned and gained more in the past 24 years than all of her other teachings and experiences combined. In a nutshell: She loves babies, women, holding space for life transitions, supporting family relationship and the spirituality that comes with birth-life-death…here to love and be loved. |
