Being a Mother was a dream of mine for as long as I can remember. I was always the girl with the baby dolls and the mother-hen to my friends. The signs were obvious growing up that I had a calling for caregiving, supporting, listening, and holding space. In 2004 I began working with families in a local daycare. This inspired me to earn my Early Childhood Development from MacEwan University. I have been a Child Development specialist for almost two decades and was awarded a prestigious Government Awarded for my work as a preschool teacher.
The birth of my son, in 2017, I worked with my own doula. Our birth had unexpected complications, leaving me with PTSD. Postpartum, I was faced with a mood disorder and breastfeeding complications, yet, with help from birth professionals, friends, family, and self care, I was brought out of the other side of postpartum to an unbelievably beautiful relationship with my son and myself, teaching me some of the most valuable lessons I bring as a Trauma-Informed Labour doula.
In June of 2020, I had a healing birth with my second child during, the covid pandemic. Again, I learning so much about birth from the greatest teacher I could be blessed with, my daughter. My children taught me about the beautiful transition from Maiden to Mother, and the ways in which Birth is a transformative, beautiful right of passage. My hope for the families I work with is that we can lead them through their own journey, to feel empowered, strong and transformed from their birth story.
I am trained as a birth Mentor and Doula, as well as a Childbirth educator, with Birthing from Within®. Along with my child development training, I am a Postpartum Doula, a certified Yoga teacher, specializing in full spectrum birth yoga (fertility, pregnancy and postpartum), parented yoga and mindfulness coaching. I have trained with Jennifer Summerfelt, as a Trauma Informed Birth Worker, and continue to work with her mentorship and have training in Spinning Babies®.
Outside of birth work, I love being around my children, husband and pets. I enjoy spending time with my family at parks, on walks in nature and climbing in the mountains. At home I love yoga and cooking. I also spend a lot of my time to and from births listening to Podcasts and audiobooks
