Nicole Preiss Labour Doula, Postpartum Doula, Certified Dog Trainer |
Hello and welcome!
My name is Nicole, but you can also call me Nikki. I am a labour doula, a postpartum doula, and a certified dog trainer. I love to help other people, and I am happily pursuing that calling in these roles. I had never even heard the word “doula” until I became pregnant and realized that there is just not enough access to support and information for pregnant people. I hired a doula for myself, and a whole world of possibility opened up to me. I went into my first labour feeling informed and empowered, and came out of it feeling invigorated and grateful. I loved the experience and chose to do it all again with my second child. I believe that pregnancy and childbirth are transformative experiences that should leave us feeling powerful and gratified, but what I see in our society is so much fear and trauma instead. I want to be a part of changing that, so I followed the passion that was awakened in me and decided to enter the doula field myself. Even though nobody can control or predict exactly how things will go in anyone’s labour and delivery, doulas can dramatically improve outcomes and the pregnant person’s perception of the experience, and I aim to do that by providing information and compassionate support at every step along the way. The postpartum “fourth trimester” period can also be challenging; it is a beautiful time full of love and learning, but also exhaustion and turbulent emotions. Nobody should have to do it alone, and it’s okay to get help! I am ready to provide support and assistance to families during this time, whether it is for emotional processing or physical support around the house. In my capacity as a dog trainer, I can also help you prepare your fur babies for the transition of bringing a new baby into the home. Babies bring great change to all our lives, including our dogs’, so I can provide you with practical information to keep the process as smooth and safe as possible! I strive to be inclusive and supportive to all, to overcome my own biases, and to maintain an empathetic mindset in all areas of my work and daily life. I know I will never be perfect, but I will never stop trying to improve either! I hope my words have resonated with you and piqued your interest in doula care. I believe that it is one of the best investments you can make for yourself and your family. I would love to hear from you, so please feel free to contact me if you have any questions! Warmest regards, Nicole Preiss |
