Evidence shows that having a doula at birth reduces the risk of unnecessary interventions, lowers the chance of C-sections, and improves overall birth satisfaction. Doulas truly make a difference! However, not everyone who wants a doula can access one.
In the current economic climate, many families are struggling to cover basic expenses, making doula care an unaffordable luxury. Additionally, systemic barriers such as racism, discrimination, and homophobia continue to impact our birthing systems. For many marginalized individuals, having a doula isn’t just beneficial—it’s essential for advocacy and support.
The Full Circle Birth Co Community Fund provides financial assistance for those who need doula care, but cannot afford it. Assisting in educational scholarships for labour and postpartum doula training with our doula educator to increase diversity in our doula community.
