This comprehensive two-day (18-hour) training covers:

  • The role of the postpartum doula and scope of practice

The CAPPA Postpartum Doula Training is an in-depth program designed to equip individuals with the knowledge and practical skills to support families in the crucial postpartum period. Focused on holistic care, this training prepares participants to assist new parents with newborn care, breastfeeding support, emotional well-being, and household adjustments during the early days and weeks following birth.

Topics include infant sleep, postpartum recovery, family dynamics, self-care for parents, and the role of the postpartum doula in providing physical, emotional, and informational support. Graduates of this program are prepared to offer compassionate, evidence-based care to new families, ensuring they feel supported, nurtured, and empowered as they transition into parenthood.

Your registration fee includes training manual, one year membership and your certification package.

Note: Late registration fee is $900.00 for any registrations that occur 30 days out from training date.

Meet Your Instructor

Sonya Duffee 

With over 26 years of experience, Sonya has dedicated her life to supporting families through pregnancy, birth, and postpartum. As the owner of Full Circle Birth Collective and a CAPPA-certified educator and doula trainer, she has trained nearly 500 doulas across Canada and provided compassionate care to countless families.

Sonya’s background includes midwifery studies, doula training, childbirth education, and medical education, giving her a unique ability to bridge both holistic and medical approaches to birth. She has specialized expertise in VBAC, high-risk pregnancies, surrogacy, adoption, and 2SLGBTQ+ family support and has attended births in homes, hospitals, and birth centers.

Passionate about empowering new doulas, Sonya’s training blends evidence-based knowledge, hands-on techniques, and mentorship, ensuring each student gains the confidence and skills to support families with care and respect.
